KIDD AND LYNTS HISTORY
Lynt & Kidd's history: Story version
The two children sat on the dusty old couch. One had dark grey
hair with red tips and the other had hair like a fire. The older one took in a
deep breath as he watched the two adults arguing from another corner of the
living room. The woman stormed away into the kitchen and every detail of her
face was deep with rage. This isn't good... Lynt thought worriedly as the
woman, his "mother" Rose, came out with one of Lynt's brothers behind him.
"TELL YOUR FATHER THAT HE IS WRONG AND I AM RIGHT," she screamed at her
six children. Lynt was more worried about the huge butchers knife in her hand
though. Kidd let out a small whimper and attempted to hide behind Lynt. "This'll
be a horror movie one day," Lynt tried to joke with Kidd but his younger
brother's eyes only widened further and he started to cry. ...This guy can be
a real baby sometimes, he thought as he rolled his scarlet eyes. He watched
his four other siblings begin to argue, rather loudly, with the mother and
father and he could catch words like, "YOU HORRIBLE PEOPLE!" and "HOW
ARE YOU OUR PARENTS?!" He noticed that Striker, Rosemary, Thyme and Lilac
were now attempting to hit Rose and Theo and were trying to chase them out of
the house. Lynt and Kidd's young minds didn't really register what was going on
so Kidd simply giggled like an idiot while Lynt just sat there, looking rather
confused. Suddenly, Lynt let out a scream as the knife Rose was holding flew
towards his knee. "OW!" he let out a screech of pain and the knife
connected with his leg. He rolled of the couch and softly whimpered in pain. "Oh
my god; what is wrong with you horrible people?" Lilac exclaimed as she rushed
over to Lynt and picked him up. She gently managed to get the knife out of his
leg and handed it to Striker. "GAAAH," he yelled as he barely managed to
chase his parents out the house with the knife clenched in his fist.

It was eight years after that incident had happened. Lynt
still remembered the look on his sibling's faces as they had chased their
parents out. "Leg better yet?" Kidd asked as he walked through the living room
of the same house eight years ago. Lynt rolled his eyes at his younger brother's
comment. "No. You asked me that yesterday. I can show you if you don't believe
me."
"No, no. I've been scarred enough for a whole life." Lynt was
tempted to slap him silly but then Striker entered the room. "You okay? You look
more stessed than usual." Kidd queried his older brother. "Darned goverment.
Kicking us out how dare they." Striker muttered to himself as he flopped on to
the couch. Kidd jumped off the couch and exclaimed, "WHAT?!"
"Yeah, you heard me right Kidd. The thing is, they're saying
it's illegal for me and Lilac to look after you guys so I'm afraid you're going
on your own..."
"...So you're just gonna let an injured person die slowly on
the streets?" Lynt commented as he looked about. Striker scratched the back of
his head nervously and answered, "Well... yeah. Um, have fun...?" Lynt moodily
grabbed Kidd's arm and charged out of the room and out of the house. After 20
minutes or so of walking they came on a desolate street with burst streetlamps
at every turn. "...Fun," Lynt joked as he stumbled along the road; Kidd
practically holding him up. Lynt stumbled and fell over. Kidd attempted to make
him stand again but failed miserably. He sighed and looked across the street to
find a man walked. "Hey!" he called to the man. "Hm?" came the response of the
rather confused man. He quickly looked left and right before jogging over to
Kidd and the collapsed Lynt. He froze as he looked at the fallen figure. "What
happened?" he questioned.
"Well, my brother had a knife thrown at his knee
eight years ago and he's still injured," Kidd explained to the man, "I'm Kidd
and the collapsed heap on the ground is Lynt."
"Well, I'm Merradin. But call me Merr," he replied as he
grabbed Lynt and looked at Kidd, "You planning to stand there like a duck or are
you planning to actually come with me?" Lynt stirred as the stranger picked him
up. Briefly, he wondered why the wound wouldn't heal but he decided to not argue
against it. "Who're you?" he questioned drowsily at the man that had picked him
up.
"I'm Merr."
Kidd skipped along Merr's side. He wondered where they were
going and truly who was "Merr". He tilted his head to the side as he stopped
before a house. "Normally, I'd take you to my house but my friend's house, this
one obviously, is closer." He knocked on the door and took a step back. Kidd
blinked his mismatched eyes as footsteps could be heard coming. Lynt's right eye
opened slightly at the noise. Can't a person get sleep round here? Lynt
thought grumpily as the door swung open. A man stepped out, with a crab on his
shoulder and a mug of coffee in his left hand. "Hey Merr- Oooh, you found some
friends? If ya' know what I mean," he said as he winked a caramel eye.
"No Rabid. Can you not see the injured kid on my shoulder or
something?"
"Injured? How?"
"I just found him collapsed with this guy here," he replied.
Kidd tilted his head to the side as he noticed a crab on Rabid's shoulder. "Erm,
sir, there is a crab on your shoulder," he said rather meekly.
"Sir? Am I the king or sumthin? Oh yah, that's Mushroom. Say
hello!"
"Scuttle." replied the small crab who looked rather confused.
Rabid didn't say anything else but simply ushered them inside the house. Lynt
flickered open an eye and was rather confused at the shape of the house. It was
like a slightly squashed white sphere. As they entered the house Merr dropped
Lynt on the couch in one of the rooms. Lynt's breathing was rather shallow as he
was dropped on to the couch. "Now, let's see what we have here," Merr murmured
as he rolled up the trousser leg. "Ooh, that's nasty," Rabid commented as he
winced.
"You say a knife did this eight years ago?" Merr
questioned.
"Yep."
"Dang..." Rabid exclaimed. Rabid scratched the back of his
head and looked at Merr and continued, "Well, maybe my rabies can heal the kid."
Merr nodded approvingly; Rabid's rabies cured everything. "Good idea," he
replied.
"First I'm getting more coffee though," Rabid said as he
walked into the kitchen. Through pain-filled eyes, Lynt gave Merr a look that
said, Seriously? Merr's response was a shrug. After fifteen minutes,
Rabid came out carrying two cups of coffee. He handed one to Merr and quietly
sipped his own one. "...Well?" Lynt said as the two drank their coffee.
"I will heal you after I have my coffee." After 12 minutes of
slowly sipping their coffee, Rabid placed the empty mug down and turned to Lynt.
Rabid reached into his mouth and pulled out a handful of rabies. When he said
rabies I didn't think he ACTUALLY meant rabies, Lynt thought,
alarmed, as Rabid spread it over his wound. He let out a whimper as the white
foam was spread over the leg. "Uh," Kidd mumbled, "This won't kill him
will it?"
"Good way to remain positive," Lynt muttered.
"Naw, it heals anything," Rabid replied loftily. Merr's grey
eyes flashed mischeviously as he sipped his coffee. Lynt muttered something
inaudiable as he scratched his nose. Kidd sat in awkward silence. "Where are
your parents?" Merr said after a while.
"I dunno and don't care. My mother threw the knife at my leg
so..."
"...Seriously?" Merr commented, shocked into almost
speechlessness. Rabid gasped dramatically. Lynt rolled his eyes. Who did they
think threw a knife at him? An asassain? "I'd thought Rabid had something to
do with it," Merr murmured suspicously. Rabid indigiantly growled at Merr and
stalked off. Rolling his stone-grey eyes, Merr turned to Lynt and Kidd again.
"So, where are you planning on going?" he queried.
"... I dunno. Do you know Kidd?"
"Dude, you are smarter than me so if you dunno then I
dunno."
"Oh stop it you," Lynt laughed awkwardly. Merr gave them a
look that said, Wat. Lynt let out a minute sigh as he flopped his head on
to the couch. "... Would you like to stay with me?" Merr asked; ignoring Rabid
running in and waving his hands while mouthing, No! Not more children for
God's sake! "Well, we kinda just met you-"
"YES." Kidd yelled while Lynt gave him a look that said You
idiot...
"Yes Kidd, let a random stranger adopt us; that's logic. Yeah,
unlike this idiot; I'm going to need some background story."
"Really? You got some spunk kid." Merr replied.
"Hey, I'm Kidd!" Kidd said indigiantly. As Merr turned around
he noticed Rabid was eyeing Kidd. He padded over to him and said, "Maybe one of
them should go with you?"
"Fine," Rabid replied coolly, "I'M HAVING DIS ONE!" He
ran up to Kidd and tackle-hugged him. Kidd screamed as he was tackle-hugged by
Rabid. Merr sighed and face-palmed himself and muttered, "Fine." He
turned to Lynt and added, "Guess I'm stuck with you."
"...Stuck with me? Oh gee, you sound cheerful. Why don't you
go run a parade with your cheerfulness and allow me to rot in a sack?"
"If that's what you want-" Rabid said, reaching for a randomly
deposited sack on the floor. Merr stopped Rabid in midsentence and sighed
softly, "Of course... I get the one that backchats..." He rolled his grey eyes
to where Rabid had resumed to tackle-hug Kidd. "Why aren't you happy like him?"
Merr continued.
"Happy? He's screaming... Besides, I'm the older brother here,
and the smarter brother here. You don't exactly seem like your jumping for joy
yourself. And I only backchat because I found that remark just insulting quite
frankly..." Lynt's crimson eyes flashed with tiredness and he found it
difficult to not give in too sleep. He looked to where Rabid had stopped
tackle-hugging Kidd and looked at the two quizzacily. Kidd, who had climbed on
to Rabid's shoulders, looked at Lynt derpily.
Merr crossed his arms and let out a sharp sigh. This kid wasn't gonna let him be the boss.
"Hey Rabid," he called to where Rabid had Kidd on his shoulders. Rabid raised his head to Merr and blinked his bright caramel eyes and replied with a simple, "Yeah?"
"Want to swap-"
"-children?" Lynt finished Merr's sentence with a glare. Merr rested his head on his hand and muttered, "I was going to ask if he wanted to swap ointment..."
